Sergey Edunov is CTO of Genesis Molecular AI, where he leads the company's molecular foundation models. He spent eleven years at Meta — moving from distributed graph infrastructure into NLP research at FAIR in 2017, then leading pretraining for Llama 2, Llama 3 and Llama 4 and co-authoring work on fault-tolerant training at 100,000 GPUs. His argument is that language models have become the boring part of AI: the hard, unsolved architecture problems have moved to 3D molecular structure, where diffusion, physics-based guidance and inference-time scaling collide in ways they do nowhere else.
