Mitchell Troyanovsky

Co-Founder, Basis

Mitchell Troyanovsky is a co-founder of Basis, the New York company whose AI agents do accounting, tax and audit work inside CPA firms — including roughly 40% of the top 25 US firms. He came to it from product roles at Goldman Sachs and the AI accounting-ledger startup Puzzle, and neither he nor his co-founder is an accountant; the company started with the two of them shadowing working accountants. In July 2026 he co-published Behavior Specs with Braintrust's Ankur Goyal — an open standard for supervising long-horizon agents in which a judge model grades a finished run against a written spec rather than blocking the agent mid-task.
