Daniel Murfet is cofounder and research lead at Sequent. A mathematician who left a tenured position to work on AI alignment, he directed research at Timaeus, where he pioneered the application of singular learning theory — a framework for reading how a model thinks out of the geometry of its loss landscape — to AI safety at billion-parameter scale. His work bridges deep learning theory and mechanistic interpretability.
